Bishop's Goutweed (Aegopodium podagraria)
Form:
Herbaceous perennial; 1 to 1.5 feet tall; moist shaded areas.
Leaves:
Alternate, compound, 9 egg-shaped leaflets (three groups of three leaflets), 1.5 to 3 inches long, sometimes irregularly lobed, sharply toothed.
Flowers:
June, small, white, in compund umbel 1.5 to 4 inches wide, on long stalks.
Fruits & Seeds:
Late summer, brown, small, elongate.
Roots:
White rhizomes, widely spreading.
Similar Species:
Golden Alexanders (Zizia aurera)
Honewort (Cryptotaenia canadensis)
Aniseroot (Osmorphiza longistylis)
